Well, I've got some good news for you... |
God Has No "Plan B"!!! |
You could tell the finest fairy tale Where peace rules in the kingdom And I would tell you this is how I feel 'Cause He reigns with love and wisdom Oh, and He hears every whisper Oh, He cares for every creature You're the King, You're the King of my heart Above everything You're the King of my heart * And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28) I’ve done a lot of meditating on one of the greatest truths that God has ever given me. It’ s become the safety net that catches me whenever I fall. It helps me to remain focused even when my world seems to be caving in on me. This truth is so simple that many of us miss it. As a result, we let despair lay waste to our hopes and dreams rather than choosing to walk in the victory that God provides. What is this elementary, yet overlooked truth? God has no “Plan B.” What do I mean by this statement? The answer lies in the acceptance of one undeniable truth. Our God is Sovereign Lord. This simply means that He is in complete control. He never drops the ball. He doesn’t have to back up and punt. Unlike you and me, He needs no “Plan B” to fall back on. Because the Sovereign LORD helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore have I set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame. (Isaiah 50:7) |
I’ve faced many uncertainties over the years. There have been times when I was concerned about meeting all of my monthly financial obligations. I’ve had my share of disappointments and heartache. I’ve cried enough tears to take a bath in and have felt many of the pressures that life can dish out. Yet, over the years, I’ve learned that WHEN THE PRESSURE IS ON, THAT IS THE TIME TO PRESS ON! So, I would pray and give it to the Lord. Then, much like the Roman soldiers of old, I would drive my shield of faith firmly into the ground. And by so doing, I would become even more determined to believe in the mighty hand of God to provide in a time of need. In other words, I would set my face like flint by making a decision that God is indeed sovereign and I’m going to trust Him! How was I able to do this? I make no claim to being some kind of spiritual Superman. (Trust me, you do not want to see me in spandex!) I started to gain the victory when I made the decision to stand. It was then that the Sovereign Lord helped me. He helped by giving me the faith I needed to trust Him and the strength I needed to continue in that trust. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28) My friend, as you face life’s many difficulties my prayer for you is this. May this profound truth forever be seared deeply into your spirit. God has no “Plan B! Indeed, the Sovereign Lord is in control, and He is busily working all things together for your good. Just trust Him. *King of My Heart by Michelle Tumes from her album, Dream © 2001 Birdwing Music |
