"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him who have been called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28)
I've been doing some meditating lately on one of the greatest truths that God has ever given me. It has become the safety net that catches me whenever I fall. It helps me to remain focused even when my world seems to be caving in on me. This truth is so simple that many of us miss it. Sadly, we then let despair lay waste to our hopes and dreams, rather than choosing to walk in the victory that God provides.
What is this elementary yet overlooked truth? "God has no Plan B!" What do I mean by this statement? The answer lies in the acceptance of one undeniable truth. Our God is Sovereign Lord! This simply means that He is in complete control. He never drops the ball. He doesn't have to back up and punt. Unlike you and I, He needs no "Plan B" to fall back on.
"Because the Sovereign LORD helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore have I set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame." (Isaiah 50:7)
I've faced many uncertainties in my life. There's been times when I were concerned about meeting all of my monthly financial obligations. Yet, when the pressure is on, that is the time to press on! So, I pray and give it to the Lord.
Then, much like the Roman solders of old, I drive my shield of faith firmly into the ground. And by so doing, become even more determined. In other words, I set my face like flint by making a decision that God is indeed sovereign and I'm going to trust Him! PERIOD!!!
How am I able to do this? It's simple. I'm not some kind of a spiritual Superman. When I made that decision to stand, it was then that the Sovereign Lord helped me. He helped by giving me the faith I needed to trust him and the strength I needed to continue in that trust.
As you face lifes many difficulties, my prayer for you is this. May this profound truth forever be seared deeply into your spirit. "God has no Plan B!" Indeed, the Sovereign Lord is in control and is busily working all things together for your good. Just trust Him.
When you say a situation is hopeless, you are slamming the door in the face of God.
